Stop pasting sensitive JSON into websites you don't trust.

JSON at Work is a desktop app that formats, minifies, diffs, and stores your JSON entirely offline. No cloud. No telemetry. No subscription. Your data stays exactly where it belongs: on your machine.

No internet required Windows & macOS Pay once, own forever

You've done it. So has everyone else.

Paste minified JSON into a browser tab, pray it formats correctly, close the tab, move on. It's the industry's worst-kept secret.

That payload had a JWT in it

Auth headers, API keys, session tokens, they all end up in the paste buffer, and then on someone else's server.

Your infosec policy says no

Regulated industries, financial data, healthcare records, corporate configs. Online tools simply aren't an option.

The internet isn't always there

Flights, dead conference Wi-Fi, VPN drops. Your tools should work whether or not you have a connection.

JSON at Work is the app that solves all three.

What's inside

Four tools. One app. Zero internet.

Everything a developer needs to work with JSON daily. Fast and completely offline.

Format & Prettify

Transform compact, hard-to-read JSON into clean, indented output with full syntax highlighting. Choose 2-space, 4-space indentation. Sort keys alphabetically. Validate structure on the fly.

Minify tab: formatted multi-line JSON on the left, compact single-line output on the right. A stats bar along the bottom reads '4.2 KB โ†’ 1.1 KB (74% smaller)'. A prominent Copy button sits near the output.

Minify

Strip all whitespace and produce the smallest valid JSON payload. Ideal for production deployments, API request bodies, and embedded configs where every byte counts.

Compare / Diff

Paste two JSON documents and see exactly what changed. Additions, deletions, and modifications highlighted side-by-side. Indispensable for debugging API version changes, config drift, and deployment differences.

History panel as a sidebar. Entries grouped by date: Today, Yesterday, June 10, etc. Each shows a filename or auto-label, a timestamp, and a JSON snippet. The selected entry is highlighted, with full content visible in the editor to the right.

History & Memory

Every document you work with is automatically saved by date. Browse and reopen anything from any session without manual saves. That JSON from last Thursday? It's still there.

Privacy by design

Your data never touches the internet. Not once.

Online JSON tools work by sending your data to a server, formatting it, and sending it back. That's fine for toy payloads. It's not fine for production API responses, database records, auth tokens, or anything your employer wouldn't want leaving the building.

JSON at Work runs entirely on your machine. The only time your network gets involved is for license activation/deactivation upon first install and that is through your browser. The app itself does not require network access. After that, it works completely offline, forever.

What developers are saying

"Our infosec team had been flagging online JSON tool usage for months. No more blocked websites. This solves it overnight. Most of us have a license now."

Sarah K.

Backend Engineer

"The diff tool is worth the price on its own. I compare API response versions constantly when debugging version-to-version changes. No more little rando sites"

Marcus T.

Senior Dev

"Bought it on a Friday afternoon and earned back the $8 before the day was over. The history feature is absurdly useful. I always lose JSONs I meant to keep all the time."

Frequently asked questions

Does the app ever connect to the internet?

Only once: during initial license activation, which happens in your browser and not inside the app. After that, JSON at Work makes no network connections of any kind. No telemetry, no update checks, nothing. It works completely offline, including in air-gapped environments.

Is this a subscription? Will I be charged again?

No. You pay once and own the license forever. No renewal fees, no annual billing, no account required after purchase. The license is valid for the lifetime of the app.

Can I use it on more than one computer?

Each license covers one device at a time. If you need it on your home machine, work laptop, and desktop, you'd purchase three licenses. At $8 each, that's still less than a single month of most developer tool subscriptions.

Which operating systems are supported?

JSON at Work runs natively on Windows and macOS. (MacOS 10.15+, Windows 7-11). Both versions support light and dark mode and follow your OS appearance settings.

What happens to my history if I reinstall?

Your history is stored locally on your machine. As long as the app's data directory is intact, everything persists through reinstalls and updates. We recommend backing it up before major OS migrations. You can also deactivate manually within the app to reuse your key on a different machine.

What does "1 year of security updates" mean exactly?

You get free updates for life. We just guarantee you'll see at least 12 months of support in case there's a need, such as patches for any security vulnerabilities. Though you are responsible for manually checking for updates. That's the nature of a fully offline app. We aim to keep it actively maintained well beyond that.
